So, summer wedding season is here again. I love wedding season. Some of us see it as an excuse to dress up whilst most of us are faced with the dreaded question, ‘what do I wear?’ which often results in panic mode. You are probably thinking of how to stick to the no white rule. How to choose the right outfit that represents your personal style and is also elegant yet comfortable without upstaging the bride. Oh gosh and what if there is a theme, dress or colour code? Well I am here to lend a helping hand and I have sourced out a wide range of styles for you. You are likely to find one that meets your needs.
Red Cold Shoulder Poppy Dress - £48
I really love the feminine, chic, elegant finish of this cold shoulder dress. It also has a romantic touch to it with fits the occasion. If you are one that loves defining shoulders, then this dress is for you. It is nicely sculpted to flatter your silhouette with a lovely bardot neckline. The straps on the dress come in handy to hide your bra straps if you are not wearing a strapless bra.
Style Tip:
Add a cute pair of black open toe heeled sandals and a black clutch bag. Minimal styling required to finish of this look as the dress is already busy. Let it be the centre of attention. Finish off with a small pair of black drop earrings. You can add a black stone bracelet.
£48 | Roman Originals | Sizes: 10 – 20
Pastel Chiffon Ruffled Dress - £95
I just adore this dress from True Decadence available online from Harvey Nichols. If you will rather opt for a long free style dress that is not clingy, then this wavy ruffle high neck pastel coloured dress may be for you. The high neck makes the dress so elegant. However, if pastel is not for you as it may not be within your colour palette, I will suggest you check out the rest of their collection. You are likely to find something else that you will love.
Style Tip:
These colours go so well with silver so definitely style with silver or diamante open toe heels and small, cute drop-down diamante earrings and bracelet. For a bit more of a statement look add a coloured purse from one of the pastel colours on the dress. Lilac or light blue will do.
£95 | True Decadence | Sizes: XS – L
The scuba bardot dress - £99
Here’s another bardot neckline dress for you. The colour yellow signifies, joy, happiness. Definitely an ideal colour for a summer wedding. As I mentioned earlier if you love to show a little bit of the shoulders then this is for you. I love how glamorous this dress looks and the visible zip just gives it a bit of an edge. The length of the dress will also be perfect for the tall ladies as although it’s a midi dress it will sit below the knee for the average tall lady.
Style Tip:
The model in the picture has been styled with silver heels, I will opt for gold instead as it looks amazing with yellow, match with a gold purse. The colour stands out already and any other additional colours should compliment the dress. If you want to take your style up a notch, then match with white open toe heeled sandals and a cute white purse or multicoloured purse with visible white on it. There are so much options to play around with when styling this dress. You also have the option to wear a statement gold neckless if you want.
£99 | Coast | Sizes: 6 – 18
Curved Anthea dress - £68
Chi Chi clothing is one of the brands that ticks all the boxes for me with their sophisticated affordable dresses available in a wide variety of sizes including a tall range. This elegant, high neck, A-line midi dress will be ideal for someone looking to wear something non clingy to the body yet remain chic and elegant. A-line dresses are so versatile because they suit most shapes.
Style Tip:
Blue goes amazing well with silver or diamante. So, match with a cute pair of over the top silver or diamante sandals. The one the model is wearing is perfect. Add a midi diamante purse with drop diamante earrings and bracelet. As the dress is plain and a neutral colour you have the freedom to play around with accessories so explore your options.
£68 | Chi Chi Clothing | Sizes: 18-26
Pastel Chiffon Ruffled Dress - £95
You have got to love florals and prints. This dress is also available in smaller sizes separate from the ‘curve range’. They are so on trend with this gorgeous maxi spring style dress. It has a lovely free flow to it and the colours are so joyous. Happy colours to suit a wedding,
Style Tip:
I will opt for a killer pair of gold sandals matched with a gold or white clutch. If you wanted to pay, more attention to detail with the gold I will refer rose gold coloured sandals and a rose gold statement earing.
£42 | ASOS | Sizes: 4-30
Poppie Jumpsuit - £65
If you are among the women who aren’t big on dresses and want to stick to trousers, then I have the thing for you: Jumpsuits. They have been on trend for a long while, so you are spoilt for choice with options. I love the high-neck lace finish to this one.
Style Tip:
All you need to complete this look are silver heeled sandals, a silver purse and silver jewellery. No necklace needed as it’s got the beautiful high neck lace at the top.
£65 | Chi Chi Clothing | Sizes: 6-16
Ruffle scuba cut out back nude jumpsuit - £45
Another chic jumpsuit suit that grabbed my attention is this. I love the culotte style look. It’s a statement on and one that will be attention grabbing due to its unique one back elegant style.
Style Tip:
My preference will be to style this with silver heeled sandals, a simple silver bracelet and statement diamante drop silver earrings.
£45 | ASOS | Sizes: 4-18
Luxe double-breasted covered button orange suit - £90
Here’s another trouser option: A suit. The suit trend is still alive so if you feel like ditching the dresses, you sure can. The two main things I love about this suit is the orange colour and the double-breasted blazer. It has that sophisticated boss lady chic style appeal.
Style Tip:
The colour is very attention grabbing so all you need is a gold pair of heeled sandals, a gold pendant necklace and small drop-down earrings. I will prefer styling this without the white vest. If you want minimal cleavage a small safety pin can be applied to the blazer. However, the vest is another option. Add a bit more feminine touch to the look and colour block with a royal blue purse. It’s all in the little details.
£90 | SilkFred | Sizes: 8-14
Curve twist and drape front midi dress - £38
Loving the light cool blue colour on this beautiful twist style dress. I love the asymmetric top half of the dress it adds a little bit of weight to the bottom half for someone who is smaller waist down creating a nice balance to the overall silhouette.
Style Tip:
As the dress is quite simple you can take the styling up a notch with a bold statement multi coloured style necklace with some silver or diamante on it. Preferably something that includes the colour of the dress. Trust me these small attention to detail make a huge difference. Small stud earrings are fine. Match with silver sandals and a silver purse.
£38 | ASOS | Sizes: 16-30
Puff Sleeve Midi Dress - £69
This burnt orange midi dress has got to my favourite dress from the 10 outfits. The statement puff sleeves give a feminine classy look to the dress. It’s nicely tailored to accentuate your silhouette. If you don’t mind showing a little flesh, then you are going to love the back and don’t worry the dress has hidden bust cups so it’s also bra friendly.
Style Tip:
I will keep the dress as the centre of attention so a pair of gold sandals or pointy shoes, gold statement earrings and a blue purse to add some colour blocking to the look. See moodboard below of a similar dress from Missguided that I have styled. An option if you will rather not show your back.
£69 | SilkFred | Sizes: 6-14
Final Verdict:
I hope you find these looks useful. I have selected affordable brands that have great wedding guest style options, but this is not an exhaustive list as there are a lot more stores with great wedding guest outfits so do explore. The brands here had gorgeous outfits available, but I can’t put them all so if you want to see more options check out their individual collections, trust me you will be spoilt for choice.

Ladies, did you know wearing pointy heeled shoes creates the illusion of longer legs. Well if you didn’t, now you know.
